Police in Nakasongola District have started a search for unknown criminals following the brutal death of a local man and the theft of his motorcycle.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, around 2:30 PM, along Sangira-Kibira Road in Nakasongola Town Council. The victim, Juuko Godfrey, is a resident of the same address.

According to Savannah Regional Police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima, the victim’s son, Kayondo Gerald, provided the basic information.

Kayondo informed the police that he was returning from collecting up school-going children from Nakasongola Model Primary School and transporting them to their respective homes along Sangira-Kibira Road, as is his normal routine.

He discovered a person lying face down in a trench and assumed him to be dead.   To his horror, he discovered it was his father. Kayondo promptly dropped the youngsters off at their homes and notified his mother.

They both went to the spot, established Juuko’s identification, and reported the incident to the Nakasongola Police Station. Twiineamazima reported that the police responded quickly, filing charges of murder and violent robbery of a motorcycle.   He claims Juuko was slain by hacking with machetes got from the scene as evidence.

He said that the body has been transferred to the Nakasongola Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem.
