Microblogging site, Twitter has suspended account of Ugandan Novelist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija for reportedly repeatedly abusing the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni and his son, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

His tweets can not currently be accessed.

A click on his account brings: “Account suspended. Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter rules.”

The youthful writer fled Uganda to a yet to be named European country on Wednesday. He has been battling charges of offensive communication related to a series of tweets he posted about Museveni and Kainerugaba.

He has since leaving the country intensified his attacks against the duo, using Facebook and Twitter, accusing it of subjecting him to despicable torture and plotting to end his life.

It believed that the suspension is due to his heightened use of language considered abusive to the person of the President and his son.

Twitter provides in its rules that it prohibits behavior that harasses or intimidates, or is otherwise intended to shame or degrade others since such behavior does not only pose risks to people’s safety, but also may lead to physical and emotional hardship for those affected.
