A police officer in Napak District has been arrested for fatally shooting a 26-year-old man in Lopida B Cell Ward, Kangole Town Council. The incident occurred On Wednesday at 4:50 PM when police officers were responding to a disturbance at a local bar. Upon arrival, the situation escalated, and one officer fired his gun, killing Paul Iculo.
Mike Longole, the Mt. Moroto Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident, stating that the officer involved has already been apprehended. Longole condemned the act and emphasized that the police are taking it seriously and conducting a thorough investigation.
“The officer involved has been arrested and detained pending further investigation. The family of the deceased has been informed,” Longole said. He added that preliminary investigations indicate the unfortunate incident occurred as the officer tried to contain the escalating situation at the bar.
Longole assured the public of the police’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting human life. “We will conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident. We will take all necessary steps to ensure that justice is served,” he said. He also urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with the police to facilitate the investigation.
