Overview:
At the time the Archbishop’s message reached our reporter, delegates were attending a morning service before the formal start of day two sessions on Wednesday at St Matthias Auditorium, Gudu, Abuja. During the service, they prayed for guidance from the Holy Spirit to help them stay faithful to biblical teaching.
The service closed with delegates standing and singing the hymn, “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.” The conference, hosted by the Church of Nigeria, opened on Tuesday with a powerful Holy Communion service themed around making faithful choices in challenging times.
Archbishop Kaziimba's call comes amid high expectations for the four-day event (March 3–6), where leaders from conservative Anglican provinces are set to address ongoing divisions in the global communion, including plans to formalize structures independent of the traditional leadership centered in Canterbury.
The Church of Uganda remains a leading voice in GAFCON, and the archbishop's message underscores the province's deep commitment to biblical authority and prayerful discernment at this "kairos moment" for the church.
Ugandan Anglicans are encouraged to join in prayer for the delegation, that their participation may strengthen fellowship, uphold the gospel, and contribute to a renewed vision for the Anglican future.
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has urged Anglicans across the country to lift in prayer the large Ugandan delegation attending the pivotal GAFCON G26 conference in Abuja, Nigeria.
In a message shared with URN, Archbishop Kaziimba expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to the 52-member delegation upon their arrival. He emphasized the historic nature of the gathering, describing it as a critical moment for the future of the Anglican Communion.
The Archbishop specifically asked Ugandans to pray for wisdom, unity, and guidance for the bishops, clergy, and lay representatives as they participate in discussions shaping the direction of orthodox Anglicanism worldwide.
