The territorial police in Hiima division are investigating the death of Edgar Baluku, a 25-year-old resident of Gatyanga II village in Bunyangabu District. His body was found dumped at Nkoko swamp in Hiima parish, Kitswamba sub-county, in the neighbouring Kasese District.

According to reports, Baluku had been missing from his home for three weeks before his body was discovered on June 20, 2026.

It is believed that he had traveled to Kasese town, where he had been staying during his disappearance. Relatives reportedly received information this morning that Edgar had been killed and his body dumped at Nkoko swamp. The chairperson of Nkoko, Kato Joseph, informed the Hima police station of the discovery.

ASP Maate Elly, the police PRO Rwenzori East, said police officers responded promptly, visiting the scene, collecting evidence, and documenting the scene. The body was retrieved and is now awaiting a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.He said the authorities have launched investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible for the deceased’s death.

They are calling on anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperative as they work to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. URN
