The border bodas have been registering about five cases of road accidents daily, with some cases being reported to police while in others the culprits run away without reporting and this is as a result of lack of riding mirrors.

Ojambo said they have started an operation on the riders who put lives of passengers in danger. Ojambo said they confiscate the motorcycle without side mirrors and hold it for five hours as a way of punishing the rider.

The situation has reached alarming levels to extent that 70 percent of the motorcycles on the boda-boda stage were lacking riding mirrors.

He said that the riders remove the side mirrors to enable them to overload, an act that has contributed to increase on road accidents in the area. They are working together with the officer in charge of traffic to eliminate the vice.

James Ouma, a resident, said that It’s dangerous to board a motorcycle without r mirrors because it puts  both the rider and the passenger at risk of accident and injury as the rider can not see another rider or driver who is overtaking him.

He appreciated the boda-boda leadership for coming up to fight against the bad riders’ mentality.

Kennedy Wandera, a motorcycle boda-boda rider at Majanji road stage, said that when the motorcycle has riding mirrors, they cannot carry more than two passenger so it forces them to remove.
