The Bundibugyo NRM party registrar Robert Kifunga Aguma was strangled to death, this is according to a postmortem report.

Kifunga’s body was last Saturday found in Bimala cell, Kanyansimbi ward, Bundibugyo Town council lying without any bloodstains.

The body was then taken to Bundibugyo General Hospital before it was transferred to Fort Portal regional referral hospital for a postmortem.  There were rumors that the deceased could have been poisoned.

The Rwenzori West Regional Police Commander (RPC), Norman Musinga, says that following the postmortem report, the police have commenced investigations into Aguma’s death.

Musinga said the manner in which the deceased was killed, indicates that it was an organized act.  He asked the general public to avail information.

The Deputy Resident District Commissioner Umari Muhanguzi asked the people of Bundibugyo to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to hunt down the suspects.

Hassan Baguma a relative to the deceased who also doubles as the Bundibugyo TC chairperson tasked the security team to expedite the investigations.

During the NRM party primaries, Aguma was accused by a number of political camps of sidelining certain candidates.

In September 2020, the former Bughendera County MP Christopher Kibanzanga stormed the tally centre accusing Aguma of deliberately delaying to announce the results. Aguma was also accused of siding with Kibanzanga’s rival Acrobert Moses Kiiza.
