National Medical Stores (NMS) says the mosquito nets burnt yesterday at one of its rented in Entebbe were insured.

The fire that broke out at about 15:45 p.m. on September 12, 2023, in a store that was being used by the NMS to keep imported mosquito nets and blankets meant to be distributed to locals.

“Mosquito nets were comprehensively insured to minimize any unexpected loss,” said Sheila Nduhukire, the National Medical Stores spokesperson, in a statement.

Nduhukire who explained that the cause of the fire was by press time not yet established, maintained that, in spite of the fire incident, NMS will continue with the planned distribution of nets.

“We are currently assessing the extent of the damage caused by
the fire and are working closely with the relevant authorities to investigate the cause,” Nduhukire said.

“NMS extends its deepest appreciation to the Uganda Police fire brigade and the Aerodrome Rescue & Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) for their swift response and professionalism during this incident.”
