Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, announced that the Directorate of Crime Intelligence (D/CI), in collaboration with CID in Gulu, has apprehended Iguma Mubarak, 33, for impersonating a member of the MK Movement and deceiving over 200 individuals in Elegu, Gulu.

According to Enanga, Iguma targeted various individuals in Elegu, including boda boda riders, taxi operators, market vendors, salon and bar operators, promising them connections to Gen. Muhoozi Kaneirugaba (Gen. MK) in exchange for support.

“Upon search, documents recovered from Iguma revealed false statements and the distribution of fraudulent MK Movement Constitution and Membership Cards to victims who paid membership fees,” Enanga stated.

Police are actively pursuing Iguma’s accomplice, Abdul Karim Matovu, who is currently evading capture.

“We commend the D/CI and Gulu CID for their exceptional efforts. This arrest sends a strong message to fraudsters who exploit false identities and misrepresentations to deceive innocent victims. Iguma has been charged before the Chief Magistrates Courts in Gulu,” Enanga emphasized.
