The deceased has been identified as Scovia, the wife of Geofrey Muganyizi also known as Masagazi, a resident of the area.   According to reports, unknown assailants attacked the family at around 11:00 PM on Friday, leaving four people with serious injuries.

Residents of Rwenseera B Cell in Kakumiro Town Council, Kakumiro District, have been left in shock following a brutal night attack that claimed the life of an elderly woman.

The deceased has been identified as Scovia, the wife of Geofrey Muganyizi also known as Masagazi, a resident of the area.   According to reports, unknown assailants attacked the family at around 11:00 PM on Friday, leaving four people with serious injuries.

The victims were Scovia, two young children, and a housemaid. Scovia later died on Saturday at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital, where she had been admitted together with the other injured victims.

Speaking to our reporter, Geoffrey Muganyizi the head of the family, narrated that when he returned home at around 11:00 PM, he called out for his family to open the door but received no response.   Upon gaining entry into the house, he found his wife, children and the housemaid lying unconscious.

Muganyizi says that he has never had any misunderstandings with anyone in the community, leaving him puzzled about the motive behind the attack.

When contacted for a comment the Kakumiro District Police Commander SP David Otabongo confirmed the incident, saying police responded quickly after receiving information from local leaders and residents but found that the suspects had already fled.   He revealed that a team of crime officers, detectives, and a canine unithas been deployed to investigate the case and track down the suspects.

By press time, the two children and the housemaid were still receiving treatment.

Shocked residents and neighbors who rushed to the scene to offer assistance expressed sadness over the incident.   The residents have called upon the Kakumiro District Police Commander, SP David Otabongo, and the police force to intensify investigations and bring the perpetrators to justice.   They also appealed for the introduction of regular night patrols, saying this will help curb nighttime criminal activities and improve security in the area.
