The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Dr Abiy Ahmed and the country’s ambassador to Uganda, Alemtsehay Meseret have extended greetings to the people of Ethiopia and the world on the joyful occasion of Christmas, wishing everyone peace and prosperity.

“Wishing all those worldwide celebrating this day a Merry Christmas and a festive holiday season,” the 2019 Nobel prize winner and a renowned advocate for peace and international cooperation wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

H.E Alemtsehay earlier on Friday expressed her desire for joy to Ugandans, Ethiopians and everyone during the festive season and in the coming year 2022.

“The Ethiopian Embassy in Kampala, Uganda, H.E Ambassador Alemtsehay Meseret, Diplomats and entire staff, wish you peace, joy and prosperity. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2022,” Ambassador Alemtsehay wrote on Friday.

Christmas is celebrated every year on December 25 and marks the birth of Jesus Christ. It is commemorated by the Christian community and others across the globe by singing carols and exchanging gifts, as the festival aims to spread the message of peace and prosperity.

The Christmas season has come at a time when Ethiopia is beginning to witness calm in areas initially marred in armed conflict especially Afar and Amhara regions, thanks to Ethiopia National Defense Forces and Dr Abiy who personally went to the frontline to fight the invading TPLF terrorists who were commiting despicable atrocities on the people.

Ethiopia is preparing to receive one million Ethiopian diasporas and friends by January 7 in what has been dubbed at the Great Ethiopian Homecoming.

The platform will be used to erase the recent fabricated images of the nation by some Western actors and to counter the coordinated and unwarranted defamation on Ethiopia.

International media and some Western countries, for the bad reasons, have for months portrayed Ethiopia as being at the peak of explosion and thus, not worth living. In fact, some went as far as urging their citizens to evacuate Ethiopia. They also called for their citizens not to travel to Ethiopia.

Some international media, in its deliberate propaganda and against the professional requirements of reporting verified truth, at some point claimed that the terrorists were a few kilometers from reaching the Capital Capital, Addis Ababa, and consequently capture it.

These actors have been employing different techniques to put economic, diplomatic and political pressure on Ethiopia in connection with the war on terrorist TPLF forces. Such is advanced on alleged grounds of human rights violation and genocide in the Tigray region.

The Great Ethiopian Homecoming will be used to exhibit the true image of Ethiopia to the rest of the world.
