Luke Owoyesigire the Deputy Police Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan says they are investigating the source of the anonymous letter

Tension is high in Kazo Central zone II, Kawempe Division following anonymous letters dropped by unidentified people threatening to attack residents.

The handwritten letters single out young children and women who will be targeted.

“Okuva nolwaleero tubategeeza nti eno team Majini, tugenda kutandika kudilinga namaka gano geyalonze, twagala musaayi”.  reads part of the letter.

Residents in the area are now in fear and have asked police to intensify security. 

Nathan Kiyimba Bogere the LCI Chairperson of the villages said that the anonymous letters have triggered fear among residents since it is a new phenomenon in the area.

He says that there are many unknown people living in the area. He wants all landlords to register their tenants. Bogere has also called on residents to remain vigilant to confront whoever attempts to attack them.

Jane Nakuya a resident says that they are now leaving in fear saying that police should intensify patrols in the area.

The Deputy Police Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan ,Luke Owoyesigire says they are investigating the source of the anonymous letter. However, he has asked the residents to remain calm and vigilant.

Last week, 178 suspected thugs were arrested over a new spate of pang-wielding attacks within parts of the Kampala Metropolitan areas. 

More than 15 people were injured in three separate attacks in Namungoona, Kyengera, Kawempe, and Nabweru-Nansana areas by the machete-wielding assailants, who rob cash, mobile phones, and other house valuables.
