Police have arrested five suspects in connection with the killing of 27-year-old Patrick Elungat, a DJ and peasant from Aleles-Magoro Southern Ward, Katakwi Town Council, whose body was discovered on 23rd November 2025 in a water-filled pit at Angopet Cell, Katakwi Town Council.
Those currently in custody include Emmanuel Omongin Aka Vet, resident of Angopet Cell; Stephen Obungan, a boda-boda rider from Stage B, resident of Apeleun Cell; Betty Oboliale; a Karamojong woman identified only as Kavin; and Ijado and Okiror, conductors at Katakwi stage.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was killed during a fight over a girl, who has also been arrested, though her identity is being withheld. Superintendent of Police and Regional Police Commander East Kyoga, Ibrahim Saiga, confirmed that three suspects have been arrested so far, while two remain at large. Police efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing.
The Territorial Police at Katakwi Central Police Station are investigating the murder under Katakwi CRB 633/2025. Authorities say investigations to identify any additional accomplices continue, and further updates will be provided.
