Microblogging site, Twitter, has suspended the account of UPDF Commander Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba from its platform due to unclear reasons.

His tweets can not currently be accessed. The General’s Twitter handle boasts over 500,000 followers.

A click on his handle brings: “Account suspended. Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter rules.”

On some devices, clicking on the handle says: “Something went wrong, try again.”

Muhoozi who is also a son to President Yoweri Museveni has been using his account to engage with the public on several issues. Many of his tweets have been used by both online and mainstream publications as his official communication on various matters.

Recently, Muhoozi used the same account to warn rustlers in Karamoja sub-region against attacking communities, revealing that the army would swing into action with ‘hell’ if the status quo was maintained.

“My Karimojong brothers! We have begged you to stop the life of robbery and violence. We have begged you to stop attacking your neighbours but to no avail!” Lt Gen Muhoozi, the UPDF Commander of Land Forces said on Twitter.

“You have refused all our appeals! Well, now we are coming and hell is coming with us,” he warned.

Twitter provides in its rules that it prohibits behavior that harasses or intimidates, or is otherwise intended to shame or degrade others since such behavior does not only pose risks to people’s safety, but also may lead to physical and emotional hardship for those affected.

Gen Muhoozi recently used the same account to announce a mega 48th birthday party scheduled for April 24th. One by one, he used the platform to reveal members of the organizing committee who included controversial journalists Andrew Mwenda and Tamale Mirundi.
