Fear and tension continue to grip residents of Kakumiro Town Council after two more people were attacked and injured by suspected panga-wielding thugs.
The latest victims have been identified as Arthur Vian Serunjogi, an employee of MKOPA operating in Kakumiro Town Council, and Shifah Kyaligonza, an elderly resident of Masonde Town Council.
According to reports, the two were attacked at about 7:30pm on saturday while walking back to their homes. The yet-to-be-identified assailants, ambused the victims before fleeing the scene. By press time, Serunjogi was receiving treatment at Dr. Sekates Health Care Center, while Kyaligonza was admitted at Midlife Clinic in Kakumiro Town Council.

Police have urged residents to remain calm but vigilant as investigations continue.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Serunjogi recounted the terrifying ordeal, saying he was suddenly confronted by armed men who attacked him without warning.
The incident comes just a day after a similar attack on Friday, February 27, 2026, when unknown assailants stormed the home of Mr. Geoffrey Muganyizi in Kakumiro Town Council, leaving four family members seriously injured.The victims included his wife, Scovia who died later in hospital, their two young children, and a housemaid. They were rushed to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for treatment, where Scovia unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries.
The repeated attacks have sparked fear among residents, with many calling for stronger security measures. Uganda’s Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, who also serves as the Kakumiro District Woman Member of Parliament, extended her condolences to the bereaved family and sympathized with those injured in the attacks. She assured the public of heightened security in the area.
“We have deployed police officers, UPDF soldiers, and other security agencies to ensure the safety of our people and to apprehend those behind these criminal acts,” she said.
Security agencies have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals as investigations into the attacks continue.
