The event is now happening at Namungalwe Saza Ground in Kigulu Chiefdom, under the theme: Harnessing the Environment by Planting Food, Fruit and Medicinal Trees.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) platform, Barugahara heaped praise on the Kyabazinga for what he called for what he called championing development in Busoga Kingdom.

“We are proud of our King and his tireless effort in uniting Busoga, fostering culture and championing development in this beautiful area,” Barugahara posted on X.

The Kyabazinga and Gen Kainerugaba are personal friends and have met and engaged several times in the recent couple of weeks.

On July 17, Gen Kainerugaba paid a courtesy visit to the Kyabazinga and discussed among other issues, youth empowerment programs, and development projects for Busoga.

Gabula ascended to the throne as the Kyabazinga of Busoga on September 13, 2014, following a popular vote from nine royal chiefs of Busoga. In the royal council meeting, he secured 10 votes, defeating his closest rival, Columbus Wambuzi, who did not attend the meeting.

Gabula’s appointment as the King of Busoga was officially declared by the late Kawune Wakooli, the then reigning chief royal prince, for a six-year term from 2008 to 2014. At that time, the kingdom faced uncertainties in selecting the most suitable candidate for the office.
