Denis Ephraime Balwaniregha, the Sironko Resident District Commissioner has finally named the health worker who allegedly defiled a teenage girl at Buwasa Health Centre IV, Buwasa Sub County, Sironko District. In an exclusive phone interview with our reporter, Balwaniregha confirmed the accused as Andrew Masolo.
He explained that a team of police officers was dispatched to arrest Masolo on Wednesday but he hasn’t reported to work since Monday. Balwaniregha, however, says that they will use all means possible to track and arrest the accused health worker.
An anonymous staffer at Buwasa Health Center IV confirmed Masolo’s alleged involvement in the defilement case, saying this marks the fifth case, with reports indicating previous assaults on women seeking antenatal and medical services at the facility.
The 13-year-old girl had accompanied her aunt to the health center and decided to seek treatment for flu when she was sexually abused by the accused in a private room. The source further revealed that Masolo committed the crime after receiving a transfer letter to another location.
The source, however, didn’t disclose names concerning similar offenses despite local complaints.
