Joseph Sseruwooza, a Parliament reporter and political talk show host at BBS Terefayina, has died.

According to Arafat Musoke, the producer of his show, Sseruwooza passed away on Friday morning at the Uganda Heart Institute after being referred from Gombe Medical Services Hospital.

Musoke said Sseruwooza had complained of severe chest pain, initially believing it was caused by ulcers. However, medical examinations revealed an advanced blood clot in one of the veins connected to his heart.

He was transferred to the Uganda Heart Institute for specialized treatment and preparation for surgery.

“Doctors confirmed the blood clot and began preparations for an operation. Unfortunately, his blood pressure suddenly rose and he passed away before the procedure could be conducted,” Musoke said.

Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, leaders, and members of the media fraternity, many describing Sseruwooza as a disciplined, dedicated, and passionate journalist.

State Minister for ICT, Jonard Asiimwe, said he was saddened by the loss of a journalist and friend who had interviewed him on several matters of national importance.

The Secretary General of the People’s Front for Freedom, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, also mourned Sseruwooza, describing him as a committed journalist whose work contributed significantly to public discourse.

Journalist Kungu Al-Mahadi Adam described the deceased as “a calm, humble, disciplined, and passionate young journalist who touched many lives through his work.”

Burial arrangements will be communicated later, according to a statement from BBS Terefayina.

May his soul rest in peace.
