Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga, the Minister of East African Community Affairs, expressed appreciation for the flourishing relations between Uganda and China.

Recognizing the pivotal roles of President Museveni and Xi Jinping, she highlighted their contributions to fostering diplomatic ties since the establishment of relations in 1962.

Over the years, Uganda has evolved into a promising market for various Chinese enterprises, both state-owned and private. These businesses span sectors such as oil, construction, clothing, and other consumer goods.

Kadaga conveyed these sentiments during a meeting with the Vice Governor of Liaoning Province, H.E. Wang Jian, at the Ministry headquarters in Kampala.

As the Kamuli district legislator, she assured the visiting delegation of Uganda’s full support, representing both the government and the leadership of Busoga.

This commitment is directed towards the transformation of the Liaoning Busoga Consortium Cooperation Saccos into a global symbol of China-Africa local cooperation.

H.E. Wang Jian, who is in the country for a scheduled signing ceremony of a Trade Cooperative MoU between Busoga and Liaoning Products Trading Center Company Limited, expressed anticipation for sustained trade relationships with Uganda.

Over the past decade, bilateral trade between the two nations has quadrupled, surpassing 1 billion US dollars. China’s primary exports to Uganda now include machinery and electrical equipment, while Uganda’s major exports to China encompass hides, oils, and seeds.
