A 23 year old man in Kanungu district is in trouble over allegedly sodomizing a minor.
Edison Ainembabazi, a resident of Mashoko village in Rushaka Parish, Nyamirama Sub county allegedly practiced homosexuality on a 12 year old boy on July 23, 2024 at around 5PM, according to Fred Kagabambe ,Nyabushoro village LC1 Chairman.
Kagabambe says that Ainembabazi found the victim grazing goats , he grabbed and took him (victim) to the bush and sodomized him.
Elly Maate, police spokesperson for Kigezi region, says that after the act the suspect went into hiding until Friday when he was arrested and taken to Kanungu police station as investigations into the matter continue.
The case is registered at Kanungu police station under file number CRB 469/2024. Homosexuality was declared illegal in Uganda after President Yoweri Museveni signed the bill to prohibit in May 2023.
