Police in Luwero District have arrested a man accused of stabbing his lover to death following a domestic dispute over alleged adultery.
The suspect, identified as Gilbert Tumwesigye, a resident of Bajjo Lumansi Village in Nyimbwa Sub-county, is accused of killing Sarah Kabahwezi, also known as Shilat, a 25-year-old bar owner.
The incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday. Kabahwezi’s body was later discovered along a roadside, covered with a towel and bearing multiple stab wounds.
According to Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, preliminary investigations indicate that Tumwesigye allegedly found the deceased with another man, believed to be a boda boda rider.
This reportedly angered him, leading to a scuffle that ended in the fatal stabbing. Twiineamazima said Kabahwezi succumbed to the injuries before police arrived at the scene.
He added that residents alerted officers from Bombo Police Station, who responded to the scene and found the victim already dead.
The body was later transferred to Luwero Hospital for a postmortem examination. The suspect was arrested and is currently detained at Bombo Police Station as investigations continue into the suspected murder.
Police say the couple had previously been experiencing misunderstandings related to allegations of infidelity.
Although they lived under the same roof, they reportedly occupied separate rooms.
