Police in Mubende are holding a one Kakooza Godfrey on allegations of murder of one month old girl identified as Natukunda Sharirot and attempting to murder five other people.

According to Rachel Kawala, the Wamala region police spokesperson, it is alleged that Kakooza, a resident of Kakumiro district separated with his wife only identified Florence a week ago and relocated with their two children to a home of one Nyirabazi Sylvia located at Kituule village, Kituuma subcounty in Mubende district where the incident happened.

“On December 23 at around 7pm, while the victims were outside in the compound, the suspect armed with a panga attacked and cut them, leading to the death of the one-month old baby girl, a daughter to the person hosting them, while rushing her to hospital,” Kawala told Plus News.

She says during the attack, Kakooza also injured other five people who were in the compound including Nyirabazi Sylvia the owner of the home aged 23 years, Tusiime Innocent aged 4 years, Harriet aged 3 years, wife to the suspect Florence and a yet to be identified boy of about seven months.

The injured, according to Kawala, are in hospital undergoing treatment and that investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Last year’s crime report indicates that 418 cases of murder as a result of domestic violence were registered.
A total of 440 people were killed as a result of aggravated domestic violence, of whom, 213 were male adults, 169 were female adults, 33 were male juveniles and 24 were female
juveniles.
