Ethiopia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uganda, H.E. Etsegenet Bezabih Yimenu, on Wednesday, met and held talks with John Mulimba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of regional affairs.

The meeting, according to H.E. Etsegenet, focused on regional and bilateral cooperation.

“We had a lively, consultative exchange of information and discussed bilateral and regional collaboration,” H.E. said after the meeting.

Ambassador Etsegenet arrived in Uganda in April this year, replacing former Ambassador H.E. Alemtsehay Meseret, who ended her tour of duty to Uganda in December last year after four years of service.

On arrival, H.E. Etsegenet said her focus will, among others, include using the people-to-people approach in order to further cooperation.

“I will not only focus on government-to-government, but also people-to-people. We will not only share about economy and politics, but also history and culture,” H.E Etsegenet said.

Indeed, prior to the meeting with minister Mulimba, the embassy held a social event as one way of creating avenues for social interaction and networking, as well as promoting a deeper understanding between the Ethiopian and Ugandan communities.

The two countries enjoy existing long-standing and historically friendly relations, and such engagement can only further the cooperation.
