Denis Turyamushanga Muhere 25, a boda boda rider in Kikuube who went missing last week has been found dead.

Muhere reportedly went missing on October 28th 2023 from his boda boda stage at Kajooga trading center in Munteme parish, Kizirafumbi sub county in Kikuube district after he received a phone call from a yet-to-be unidentified person to go and transport him to unknown destination.

While riding his motorcycle registration number UFR 834S Bajaj, Muhere rushed to transport the passenger who called him.

Since then, Muhere never returned to his stage, a thing that caused fear among his colleagues. They mounted a search for him in vain and later reported the matter to police.

Police teamed up with the area residents and started searching for the missing person.

Muhere’s body was found dumped in a sugarcane plantation in Kabira village, Bubogo parish in the neighboring Kabwoya sub county in Kikuube district on Friday morning.

The body had deep cuts on the head and face, an indication that thugs could have killed him before taking off with his motorcycle.

Jovan Wamala, the LC1 Chairperson of Kabira where the body was found dumped told Uganda Radio Network in an interview that cane cutters alerted him after they discovered a body dumped in a sugarcane plantation.

He immediately alerted the police who rushed to the area with some relatives of Muhere. They later identified that the dumped body as of Muhere who had gone missing.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine regional police spokesperson, says the thugs reportedly made off with the deceased’s motorcycle after executing their mission.

He says police rushed and retrieved the body that was later conveyed to Kikuube health center IV for postmortem.

The body was later handed over to the relatives for burial as the hunt for the suspects continues.
