Police are investigating the death of Amon Senkula, a murder suspect who was killed by an angry mob in Bakulimya Village in Kyankwanzi district while officers were taking him to recover the weapon he used to kill a couple on Valentines day.
Lameck Kigozi, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson, explains that on Tuesday police arrested Senkula and detained him. He later confessed to killing Awali Ssentongo Awali and Doreen Ayebare on February 14th, 2026. Kigozi, however, explains that as Police was taking the suspect to retrieve the murder weapon, a mob overpowered the officers and lynched Senkula.
Kigozi said that officers escaped unharmed, despite attempts to burn them with petrol. He explains that a case of murder by mob has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
Police condemn the mob justice and appeal for calm, urging citizens to let the law take its course.
