Arua Regional Referral Hospital is set to receive medical supplies and infrastructural support under MTN’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

This was revealed by MTN Uganda officials during their visit to the hospital as part of the three-day “Free Your Fire” campaign in Arua City, designed to connect with subscribers and local community members. MTN Uganda’s Regional Commercial Head, Phillip Odoi, explained that the partnership with Arua Regional Referral Hospital is a way of giving back to the community that supports their business as network subscribers.

Odoi noted that the visit to the hospital and participation in various activities were part of the ongoing campaign to engage with the facility. During this visit, the officials cleaned part of the hospital, donated cleaning equipment, including wheelbarrows and brooms, to support environmental health, provided financial support via MoMo to some mothers and caretakers in the children’s ward, and offered packages of assorted items to the hospital administration.

Arua Regional Referral Hospital Administrator, Dr. Gilbert Aniku, said that the facility still faces challenges as it cannot adequately support areas beyond clinical services, which are the hospital’s core focus. Aniku emphasized that the support is intended to address some of these gaps. Meanwhile, Senior Manager of Commercial Operations for MoMo, Carolyn Nabunya, commended the hospital administration, saying that much of their work often goes unrecognized.

The hospital administration appealed for a facility and medical supplies to care for premature babies, a request that MTN Uganda officials said would be forwarded to the MTN Foundation for consideration. The company had previously donated a refrigerator for blood storage at the hospital’s blood bank. URN
