Late Robert Charles Ogwang

The Ministry of Local Government is in the process of appointing the late Robert Charles Ogwang full Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

The local government Minister, Raphael Magezi disclosed this while addressing mourners at Ogwang’s funeral at Apii primary school in Kole district Saturday.

The late Ogwanga succumbed to gunshot wounds at Bombo Military Hospital on July 8th, 2022 after unknown assailants sprayed his vehicle with bullets on his way to Lira City.

At the time of his death, Ogwang was the acting CAO Bukwo district.

However, Magezi says that his ministry together with the Ministry of Public Service will give Ogwang a posthumous appointment to the position of Chief Administrative Officer.

Magezi, who described late Ogwang as an intelligent and hardworking civil servant whose short-lived administration transformed Bukuwo District, called on the other CAOs to remain strong in their fight against corruption.

Earlier, Andrew Moses Awany, the vice president Uganda Local Government Association (ULGA) asked the Government to consider promoting the deceased full CAO in appreciation of his service to the Country.

Similarly, Dunstan Balaba, the chief administrative officer of Tororo, who doubles as the chairperson Association of CAOs, tasked the Oyam district leadership to consider promoting the widow from position of Assistant to Principal Human Resource Officer.

Other speakers including the deputy CAO Bukwo district called for expeditious inquiries into Ogwang’s death and the arrest of the assailants.

Ogwang is survived by a widow, 7 biological and 20 other children. He was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Apii, Kole district.
