President Yoweri Museveni will today Friday hold an engagement with journalists including news managers and political talk show hosts from leading media outlets in the country. 

The interaction, according to a notice by the Presidential Press Unit, will take place at 8 PM at State House, Entebbe.

During a similar event last year, the President responded to several concerns by journalists about security, economy, international relations and governance.

During this session, H.E. the President will also deliver his Christmas message to the nation. The session will be broadcast live on all radio and TV stations, as well as online platforms. 

The live media interaction with the President acknowledges his appreciation of the role of the media in strengthening democracy and development of the country.

The President has previously saluted the courage and determination of media practitioners who on a daily go the extra time, sometimes at great personal risks, to keep society well informed.

However, he has also on several occasions rebuked irresponsible media practices.

The President might use the day to remind journalists to reflect on the need to embrace the best professional standards and practices, especially in this era of new media characterised by fake news.
