A 24-year-old man in Namisindwa district has died in a challenge to drink 12 bottles of Kakasa Kombucha drink, an alcohol brand from Kenya. The deceased has been identified as Rober Welikhe, a resident of Sikhendu village Sikhendu parish Bukiabi sub-county.

Michael Koyi, one of the residents says that the competition was organized by Augustus Wete one of the local traders in the Riverside trading center at Bukiabi Sub County. He explained that Wete staked Uganda Shillings 10,000 for whoever would down 12 bottles of  Kakasa Kombucha drink.

According to Koyi, Welikhe took on the challenge since he has been a known drinker in the area. He explains that all was well until Welikhe, reached the 8th bottle. He collapsed and released from his mouth and nose prompting residents to rush him to Lwakhakha Mercy Clinic for treatment but he died on the way.
