Police have confirmed that two people died on spot in an accident at the Nile Avenue round-about at crested towers, Central Division in Kampala.

The accident which occurred on Friday evening at around 7pm involved Motor Vehicle
Registration Number UAW 987Y, a Toyota Hiace.

According to ASP Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic Police spokesperson, it is alleged that the said commuter taxi was traveling from the direction of speak road facing Clement Road with unidentified numbers of passengers on board on a high speed.

“While approaching a sharp corner it failed to break and failed to negotiate the corner, it eventually fell down inside the UBC subway roundabout killing two occupants on spot and many unidentified sustained serious injuries,” Nampiima says.

She says on receiving the information, police rushed to the scene and took the injured victims to Mulago Hospital.

The bodies of the deceased were delivered to City Mortuary for postmortem.

By publication of this story, Police’s fire and rescue services team were at the scene to remove the wreckage of the accident vehicle.
