Uganda’s leading Beer Company, Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) through its flagship brand, Nile Special, has joined other leading brands which include MTN Uganda to bankroll 2022 World Cup commentary on Radio 4.

The sponsorship which covers commentary of all games, was confirmed by the Station’s Head of Marketing, Ronnie Odrek.

“Yes they (NBL) are on board and we are excited about this development. It shows the confidence they have in Radio 4, our sports commentary and programs,” Odrek told Plus News.

NBL is the producer of Nile Special, Club Pilsener, Eagle Lager, Eagle Extra, Eagle Dark, Nile Gold, Castle Milk Stout, Redd’s, Redd’s Vodka Lemon, Castle Lite, Chairman’s ESB, Chibuku and the new brand Hero.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Juliana Mukwaya, the Station’s Manager said NBL’s coming is a boost to Radio 4’s best-in-class live football commentaries.

“This is both monumental and momentous for us as the foremost radio brand in Uganda and it’s in keeping with our corporate promise to continue to be the home of the biggest conversations, entertainment and fun on Ugandan radio,” Mrs Mukwaya said.

“No doubt this partnership with the Uganda’s leading Beer Company, Nile Breweries Limited, would take the reach of the World Cup to great new heights in Uganda and would cement our brand as one that is dedicated to the passions and aspirations of our people,” she added.

Inside Radio 4 unequaled on air studios

The tournament kicks off today with Hosts Qatar taking on Ecuador. It was moved from its usual spot on the sports calendar to avoid the summer heat.

Meanwhile, Radio 4 has lined up a team of unrivaled analysts and commentators who will bring the most comprehensive and holistic World Cup offering to its audience.

These who include Abdallah Walusimbi ‘Munnakabanga’, Coach Balagadde Ramos, Kigongo Sulaiman ‘Senior’, Musinguzi Bernard, Ssekamatte Vincent and many others, will be joined by ex-internationals, former Uganda Cranes players, coaches and celebrities to spice up the commentary.
