Joseph Ssewava from the ruling political party, National Resistance Movement (NRM), has heaped praise on Jane Barekye, the State House Controller, for excellently managing the Zonal Industrial hubs in the country.

There are 21 zonal industrial hubs across constructed under the Presidential Initiative On Skilling Uganda.

The State House Comptroller, Ms. Jane Barekye, has said that the 21 zonal industrial hubs that have been constructed under the Presidential Initiative On Skilling Uganda with an aim of scaling down unemployment rates, especially among the youths, and stimulate industrial production.

Barekye, as the State House controller, has been pivotal in ensuring that their objectives are achieved. At their inception, she cautioned leaders against politicizing the enrolment process of the youths to be skilled at all Zonal Industrial Hubs adding that they must be transparent and select mainly those that are economically disadvantaged.

A couple of months ago, she tasked the managers of these Industrial Hubs to work diligently stressing that by giving clear leadership in the skilling programme of youths in their regions, they will be making a positive contribution towards Uganda’s development.

Now, while appearing on Radio 4 on Thursday last week, Joseph Ssewava, said Barekye has distinctively and efficiently managed the industrial hubs which has since enabled youths to get practical entrepreneurial skills.

“The industrial hubs were initiated by President Yoweri Museven in order to create jobs through attaining skills that can propel growth of small scale industries. This prompted government to allocate over sh130b for the construction of 21 zonal industrial hubs across the country,” Ssewava said.

“As we speak, we have 12 Regional Industrial Hubs that are operational i.e Ankole, Rwenzori, Tooro, Greater Mubende, Mengo, Bugisu, Karamoja, Sebei, Acholi, Lango, among others. Recently,Ms Barekye met managers of those industrial hubs in order to train them and equip them with skills,” he added.

He said he was overwhelmed on his visit industrial hub in Masaka District recently, where he witnessed hundreds of young people being skilled in different areas areas regardless of their political affiliations.

“Ms. Barekye has given leadership to these hubs and that is the way to go. Such people who work hard to effect the vision of our visionary leaders, are what this country needs,” he reiterated.

Barekye was on August 23, appointed to succeed Lucy Nakyobe as the statehouse comptroller. She formerly worked as the Special Presidential Assistant responsible for Economic Affairs.

Ssewava says the rest of the State House staff and other government officials should borrow a leaf from Jane Barikye in order to develop the country.
