The National Unity Platform (NUP), under the leadership of Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi, has initiated a call for qualified candidates interested in representing Dokolo district as the woman representative in parliament.

According to a statement released on Thursday by Mercy Walukamba, the chairperson of the election management committee, the party is accepting expressions of interest from February 16 to 21, noon.

Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their applications either at the party secretariat in Makerere Kavule or via email, as outlined in the statement.

Applicants are advised to include their party membership card, national ID, curriculum vitae, and certified copies of academic qualifications.

The vacancy arose following the passing of Cecilia Ogwal in late January at the age of 77 in an Indian hospital, where she was reportedly receiving treatment for a cancer-related illness.

Meanwhile, the Forum for Democratic Change has nominated Dr. Olwoc Rosemary Ogwal, the late legislator’s daughter, as their candidate, urging other parties to support her uncontested.

The Electoral Commission, headed by Justice Simon Byabakama, has scheduled the polling day for March 21, according to the electoral program released last week.
