The ceremony follows Museveni’s victory in the 2026 general election, extending his leadership that began in 1986.
The ruling National Resistance Movement credited the victory to continued public confidence in his leadership and government programmes focused on economic growth, industrialisation, infrastructure, and regional integration.

Thousands of guests, including heads of state, diplomats, religious leaders, and government officials, are expected to attend the inauguration as Museveni begins another five-year term in office.
