Ugandans on social media are calling for the resignation of Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, after admitting that she can not supervise ministers because they are highly educated.

During her interaction with Parliament’s Presidential Affairs Committee last week on the ongoing investigations on Karamoja iron sheets infamy, Nabbanja said it was not proper for anyone to apportion blame on her, as the overall supervisor, for failing to reign-in on the ministers who shared ironsheets meant for the vulnerables in Karamoja.

Investigations are ongoing to establish circumstances under which Goretti Kitutu, the Minister in charge of Karamoja affairs, diverted the sheets to several top government officials, in a bonanza like style, for their personal use.

The IGG’s list of top government officials who benefitted from the iron sheet scam includes Jessica Alupo (Vice President), Anita Among (Speaker of Parliament), Robinah Nabbanja (Prime Minister), Rebecca Kadaga (First Deputy Prime Minister/Minister for East African Affairs), Rukia Isanga Nakadama (Second Deputy Prime Minister/Minister without Portfolio) and Matia Kasaija (Finance Minister).

Others are Judith Nabakooba (Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development), Mary Kitutu Goretti (Minister for Karamoja Affairs), Dennis Hamson Obua (Government Chief Whip) and Rose Lilly Akello (Minister for Ethics and Integrity).

The Office of the Prime Minister coordinates distribution of relief items and is the mother ministry of the docket, whose minister Kitutu, has since been arrested and sent on remand. Many people have pointed fingers at the Prime Minister for failing do her supervisory role.

However, while commenting on this, Nabbanja said, the ministers are very educated people to the extent that she can’t monitor or supervise their works.

“Some of these Ministers are highly educated. When you look at Hon Kitutu, she is highly educated, she is a Doctor – I don’t know a doctor in which field, but by the time you attain that status, you are highly educated. So I don’t know how you expect me to monitor a highly educated person of her caliber,” Nabbanja told the Presidential Affairs Committee.

Now, on Twitter, Ugandans are saying Nabbanja’s statement is an indictment on herself that she is too incompetent to occupy the office of the Prime Minister thus rooting for her resignation or get sacked by the President who is the appointing authority.

Former Presidential candidate, Prof Venansius Baryamureeba said: “Then President Kaguta Museveni should demote you to a Ministerial postion if you don’t know the meaning of Prime Minister or the duties of the Prime Minister.”

A one Dan writes: “This one just admitted her inability to supervise her subordinates, she gave herself a vote of no confide.”

Robert Tumusiime Akiiki says: “Baitu boojo Robinah Akiiki you are the PM, a true Munyoro and grandchild of Omukama Kabalega. Why should you be afraid supervising a highly educated guy. Be in charge Robinah Nabbanja and take control.”

Deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura notes: “Hon Robinah Nabbanja has passed a vote of no confidence in herself and her (in)abilities by clearly stating that she can’t supervise all her subordinates! Welcome to the cabinet of Fisher Men and Women.”

MarachaMK2026 writes: “She’s admitting her incompetence as the Prime Minister of our great country!”
