The man who is seen assaulting his wife in a video making rounds on social media has be arrested, police say.

In the video clip which has since gone viral, a seemingly angered man is seen severally punching and pulling hair of a woman sitting on a veranda as she helplessly cried for mercy. He would then kick her in the face.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson has in a statement identified the man as Julius Matovu aged 32 and a resident of Fortportal City and his wife Esther Nassaka aged 22, a resident of Kikubbamba Zone in Wakiso District.

He says the incident happened on Thursday March 10 this year at Kyebando Erisa opposite Homesdalen Primary and Nursery School where Matovu invite Nasaka to come and pick her clothes from.

“The couple picked a quarrel and the woman was then assaulted by the man. Her statement has been recorded and video footage of Matovu assaulting Nasaka exhibited,” says ASP Owoyesigyire.

He says the suspect is currently detained at Kanyanya police station and that he will be arraigned in courts of law as soon as investigations are complete.
