Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson, reported that the territorial Police in Kampala Metropolitan North apprehended a self-proclaimed pastor, Magezi Daniel, aged 36, along with two other suspects.

These were found in possession of dangerous and sharp weapons, which they were allegedly using in criminal activities such as robbing pedestrians in Nansana, Wakiso district.

Enanga disclosed that the suspects operated from a house transformed into a church, with Magezi as the leader. Inside, they discovered 15 male adults and youth, while seven female victims were reportedly confined by the group under false promises of employment.

The police are currently working to trace the origin of the female victims and understand the motives of the suspects.

During a press briefing at the Police headquarters in Kampala on Monday, the Police emphasized that armed and unarmed joint security officers are deployed nationwide to ensure the safety of Ugandans during the festive season.

Additionally, the Police urged individuals with CCTV cameras to promptly alert them about any potential threats captured in their systems and share relevant footage. Enanga emphasized that this collaboration would contribute to enhancing the safety of all Ugandans.

To further promote public safety, the Police issued crime and safety measures tips, aiming to reduce crime and ensure Ugandans can enjoy the festive season securely.
