Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson, has announced that the territorial police in Kampala Metropolitan East and Kira Division are actively pursuing a man suspected of killing his female partner at Silent Kireka Guest House in Kireka B zone, Kira Municipality.

According to Enanga, the suspect, who identified himself as Mike Bilnego, booked a room for a brief stay at Ugx 5000 on February 10, only for the attendant to later discover a deceased woman on the bed.

“At around 11 pm, when the lodge attendant checked the room, she found it unlocked and illuminated. Inside, she discovered a woman of brown complexion lying lifeless, face down on the bed, with blood emanating from her nose,” explained Enanga.

The Police spokesperson made these statements during the weekly press briefing held at police headquarters in Naguru on Monday.

Upon receiving the report, the police documented the scene and initiated investigations while the victim’s body was transported to the City Mortuary for post-mortem examination.

It’s also been reported that the suspect, now at large, absconded with the female victim’s belongings, as her handbag was found empty.

During the briefing, police also disclosed ongoing investigations into the murder by strangulation of a sex worker identified as Nabasirye Mastullah, who had recently rented a room at Nalubega Betty’s rooms in downtown Sembabule town council, Greater Masaka.

The victim, who had resided in the area for only three days after relocating from Central ward, Lukaya town council in Kalungu district, was found strangled to death, her naked body left on the bed.

As authorities work to apprehend the perpetrators of these heinous crimes, police have urged vulnerable women, including sex workers, to exercise caution when interacting with strangers.

“These incidents underscore the vulnerability of sex workers and other marginalized women to rape, physical and sexual assault, and robbery,” noted the police.
