Crime scene tape

Police in Luwero District have launched a manhunt for unknown assailants following the discovery of a brutally murdered man in Kavule Zone, Kikyusa Town Council. According to a statement by Sam Twiineamazima, Savannah Region Police spokesperson, residents reported the incident on Saturday morning, January 24, 2026, after finding an abandoned motorcycle with suspected blood stains and a pair of black open shoes near a brick-laying site.

A search of the area led to the discovery of the body of an adult male, still unidentified, lying about ten metres from the motorcycle. The victim had multiple deep cuts to the head, neck, and face, indicating a violent attack. Police responded immediately, securing the scene and collecting several exhibits, including a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration UEQ 569U), the black shoes, and a mobile phone, all retained to aid ongoing investigations. The body was taken to Luwero General Hospital for autopsy.

The police also deployed a canine unit, though no trail has been successfully established. Statements from witnesses have been recorded as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the killing. Twiineamazima described the attack as a brutal act and urged residents to cooperate with authorities by providing any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects, emphasizing that public vigilance is key in curbing violent crime in the area.
