The Mityana K-9 Unit swiftly responded to a reported theft of coffee at Kiganda Police Station, initiated by Kayima Madi, a resident of Kitaliza cell, Kamusenene Parish, Kiganda subcounty in Kassanda district.

Whisky, the police sniffer dog, was brought to the scene and immediately picked up the scent of an unknown suspect. Following the trail for approximately 1km, the team arrived at the residence of Kanyikera Raphael of Bugayo Cell. Upon search, a stash of freshly stolen coffee was found, positively identified by the complainant. Although the suspect claimed innocence, stating the coffee was brought to him by an unidentified individual for purchase, he refused to disclose further details. Consequently, he was handed over to Kiganda Police Station for thorough investigation.

Similarly, in Bushenyi, the K9 Unit responded to a theft from a motor vehicle reported at Bushenyi Central Police Station.The investigation led to the identification of the vehicle’s owner, Agaba Alvin, who had recently been released from prison for a similar offense. Upon encountering the police dog, Alvin fled into the forest at high speed.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) took over the case for further investigation and inquiries.
