The South Kyoga Regional Police have initiated a serious investigation into multiple aggravated defilement cases involving a remanded alleged aggravated defiler, Joseph Lomongin, a 41-year-old man.
This investigation follows allegations by four parents that Lomongin has been luring the minors into sexual acts using small gifts like sweets, biscuits, and juice.
According to Stephen Mukombe, the South Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, Lomongin was apprehended by community members on March 21, 2026, after a minor emerged from his home crying and covered in blood.
When the mother of the child intervened and inquired about the situation, the minor reportedly disclosed that Lomongin had defiled her. Mukombe says the mother raised an alarm, attracting the attention of the community, who attempted to lynch Lomongin.
The police intervened and successfully arrested him amidst chaos. Lomongin was remanded to Kumi Government Prison on March 31, 2026, facing one count of defilement.
As the investigation progresses continued, more cases of aggravated defilement have emerged, linking Lomongin to the defilement of three additional minors, bringing the total number of the victims to four. The ages of these victims range from 5 to 9 years old, according to Mukombe.
Mukombe urges parents to remain vigilant over their children’s safety. “I call upon all parents to always be very vigilant with their children and ensure that where the minors go is not out of sight of responsible guardians,” he stated.
Condemning such heinous acts, he have called upon any parents who have experienced similar incidents involving Lomongin to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. URN
