The Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court has remanded a Rwandan national and two other men on allegations of stealing motorcycle spare parts valued at more than 98.5 million Shillings.

The accused persons, Kalyango Gonzaga, 33, a storekeeper and resident of Kitezi, Kasangati Town Council in Wakiso District; Robert Sseggawa, 37, a driver and Rwandan national residing in Mulago, Kawempe Division; and Deo Muwanika, 32, a loader from Kayunga, Wakiso Town Council, have appeared before the court on charges related to theft and conspiracy to commit a felony.

The trio was not produced before the trial magistrate but instead appeared before Grade One Magistrate Rophine Achayo, who communicated to them the charges against them

The Court has heard that between July 2025 and January 2026, the accused persons allegedly stole motorcycle spare parts from Shamba Complex in Nabugabo Village, Kampala Central Division, Kampala District. The items, valued at 98.5 million shillings, are said to have been the property of Bosco Sserwadda.

Prosecution further alleges that during the same period and at the same location, the accused persons conspired to commit a felony, specifically theft, contrary to Section 363 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 128.

They were jointly charged with theft contrary to Sections 231 and 244 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 128, as well as conspiracy to commit a felony. But the three accused persons have denied both charges. The prosecution was led by Senior State Attorney Grace Amy, who informed the Court that investigations are still ongoing.

Magistrate Achayo remanded the accused to Luzira prison until 13 May, when they are expected to return to court for an update on the progress of investigations. URN
