The Chairperson of Kween PDM Sacco in Kapchorwa district has been arrested for allegedly extorting money from the beneficiaries.

Difas Chemonges, and two other committee members Stephen Simba, the treasurer, and Emily Augustin, the Secretary were arrested on Thursday on the orders of Deputy Resident District Commissioner Martin Sakajja after receiving several complaints from members. 

According to Sakajja, the officials demanded 55,000 shillings from each beneficiary, who was supposed to receive One Million Shillings. 

Joshua Kurong another beneficiary reveals that, while processing the loan from the beginning, recipients were paying 45,000 which the chairperson claimed was for registration.

The Parish Development Model was launched to enhance job creation and address unemployment through various pillars such as financial inclusion, infrastructure development, and agricultural value chain enhancement. 

The PDM program is designed to provide low-cost loans to beneficiaries for sustainable income-generating investments within their communities.
