Various social media platforms have been awash with best birthday wishes to the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Mwenda Mutebi II.
People irrespective of their political, religious, tribal affiliations allover wishing Kabaka Mutebi a happy 67th Birthday .
The Arch Bishop of Church Of Uganda, His Grace Dr. Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu while delivering his Easter message to Ugandans at the Arch Bishop’s Palace on April 13, through a prayer, he asked God to provide the Kabaka with abundant blessings.
Nobert Mao, the Democratic Party President through a tweet said: ” I wish the lion of Buganda, King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II a happy birthday. I pray he has a great day and may the years ahead come with many more blessings.”
Mao ended his tweet with the fifth stanza of the Buganda Anthem which can precisely be translated as wishing the Kabaka God’s blessings upon him .
Annually, the Kingdom of Buganda in partnership with Airtel organises a Kabaka run every April on a sunday leading to Kabaka’s birthday to support the needy Ugandans especially Sickle cells patients but this year the run will take place in May.
During a press conference at Bulange, Mengo last week, the Katikiiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga confirmed to all the people of Buganda and well wishers that the run will take place when the Kabaka returns from his tour in Europe.
The postponement of the event is to allow the Chief Guest and The Birthday ‘boy’ to be present during his celebrations.
