Kibaale police are holding Emmanuel, a government primary school teacher, on allegations of defiling a 16-year-old student living with disabilities.

The victim, who is deaf and dumb, whose identity we can not reveal, is said to be carrying a six-month pregnancy.

The victim’s mother, Beatrice Bikara, says she discovered her daughter’s pregnancy after rumors prompted her to investigate.

Bikara has filed a police case, despite receiving calls urging her to settle the matter out of court. Sources indicate that the victim’s father, George Asiimwe, allegedly accepted 1 million shillings from the suspect to cover up the case, without the mother’s knowledge.

Kibaale DPC Joseph Ayesiga confirms the arrest, saying investigations are ongoing. He says the suspect is detained at Kibaale central police station as investigations continue.

The school’s head teacher declined to comment, while the DEO Kibaale, John Ntaragaboine, warns teachers to remain focused on their duties.

Assistant RDC Godfrey Asiimwe condemns the violation of girl child rights and urges police to take action if the suspect is found guilty. URN
