The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lira have on Thursday afternoon remanded 10 alleged foot soldiers of the National Unity Platform till 12th November, 2025.
The accused persons are Precious Paul Ssembusi, Ismail Bukenya, Liberty Lokoro, Mastura Nakabuye and Raston Waiswa. The others are Hope Nasozi, Saliman Kagwa, Regan Kamulegeya, Stephen Katamba and Alison Lubega.
They appeared before Her Worship Jane Tibagonzeka on Thursday evening facing charges of malicious damage to properties and robbery involving a police motor vehicle Reg No.UP 4816 operating under cover using registration UBK 380Q.
However, court did not allow them to register a plea on grounds that investigation into the matter was still incomplete. They were subsequently remanded to prison until Wednesday November 12th, 2025 when they are expected to appear again.
Prosecution alleges on Tuesday October 28, 2025 while at Obot primary school in Obot Parish, Bar-Sub-county in Lira District along Lira- Alebtong road, the accused person robbed police officers Julius Isabirye and his driver Peter Muhungo a Dell Laptop computer, a bag of clothes and 40 liters’ of diesel fuel.
The total value of the items stolen is estimated at shs 1,892,000.
