Two teachers in Kaliro District have been arrested for alleged defilement. The suspects who are currently detained at Kaliro central police station include; 35-year-old Grace Mukabile and Protus Fumbula, aged 27 years.

The Police in Busoga North say that the parents of a 15-year-old girl filed a case of a missing person with Kaliro Central police station after their daughter failed to return home after the Christmas festivities.

However, the girl was on Wednesday seen with Mukabile, prompting police to deploy detectives who monitored their movements throughout the day. The detectives stormed Mukabile’s house, where the girl was found.

The other suspect, Fumbula was arrested after being implicated for having a relationship with his former Primary Seven pupil, aged 14 years.

Reports indicate that Fumbula bought the girl a phone, which she went with to her parent’s home in Namutumba district. It is alleged that on the 30th of December, they rented a room in Ivukula town council, where they have been living until Thursday when Fumbula was arrested.

The Busoga North police spokesperson, Michael Kasadha says that cases of defilement are on the rise in Kaliro district. He challenged parents to exercise vigilance and protect their children from abuse.
