In its ongoing commitment to digital transformation, the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) has proactively pursued initiatives to uphold national standards and mitigate risks throughout the country.

In a significant stride, the organization has elevated its approach to volunteer and membership operations by introducing a digitalized system. This innovative system is poised to enhance efficiency in recruitment, engagement, and overall management of volunteers.

URCS Secretary General, Mr. Kwesiga Robert, emphasized that the system’s accessibility to everyone, anywhere, and at any time is pivotal in monitoring, recruiting, and motivating a diverse pool of volunteers without direct contact.

Operable across various devices, the system facilitates a seamless online registration process for volunteers and members. Project managers can leverage the system to request volunteers with specific skill sets, streamlining project selection and submission processes.

Expressing enthusiasm, Kwesiga highlighted the organization’s commitment to aligning with global standards, marking a departure from traditional methods to a more direct and interactive approach with members involved in voluntary services.

Acknowledging key partners in this transformative journey, Kwesiga urged the media to publicize the system, fostering increased volunteer and member participation.

Michael Seguya, Head of Financial Institutions and Development Groups at Stanbic Bank, commended the initiative, emphasizing the bank’s role in providing a secure platform for transparent and accountable operations.

Seguya underscored the significance of such partnerships in enabling clients to work efficiently.

Collin Mugasha, Director of E-Government Services at NITA Uganda, praised URCS for embracing digital transformation, citing the importance of mobile solutions for the convenience of an increasingly mobile population.

The newly launched digital system not only streamlines volunteer and membership processes but also enables rapid response in humanitarian aid delivery. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in resource mobilization, ensuring the sustainability of the national society.
