The UPDF’s joint staff head of human resource management, Brig. Jimmy Kinalwa has drilled adjutants on exercising honesty in the course of dispensing their duties as it is beneficial to the forces under their charge.
Over 86 adjutants sourced from the different UPDF units are undergoing an eight weeks course in military law, personnel and logistical management, among others.
Adjutants also serve as personal assistants to unit commanders and have been reminded how honesty offers them with the clear mindedness to authoritatively advise their superiors with ease.
While delivering his lecture to the adjutants at the Jinja city’s based Junior staff on Tuesday, Kinalwa argued that adjutants occupy administrative positions within the force and exercising impartiality is key in addressing the needs of the troops without prejudice.
Kinalwa further challenged adjutants to desist from corruption-related tendencies, but rather exercise humanity and fairness while handling matters of forces within their units, which will keep the troops focused on serving their country.
Kinalwa adds that when adjutants continuously exercise acts of honesty, coupled with ensuring that troops get their financial entitlements on time, there shall be increased service morale in every unit at all levels.
Meanwhile, the junior staff commandant, Brig Chris Ogwal challenged adjutants to effectively manage personnel and ensure proper accountability of funds, which enables unit commanders to plan for the daily operations of their respective units.
Ogwal further advised adjutants to design in-house means of solving problems ranging from logistical to personnel challenges, among others, as a key driver in ensuring proper dispensation of their daily duties.
