Combined ASTU and UPDF personnel from Aojathogo Detach have recovered three head of cattle following a successful ambush operation in Abim District.

Mt Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson Mike Longole said the cattle were recovered on 13 June 2026 at 12:30am in Aojathogo Village, Kobulin Parish, Nyakwai Sub-County.‎“The suspected raiders abandoned the cattle and took off under fire,” Longole said.

‎He explained that the operation was based on intelligence received from a reliable informant who alerted security personnel by phone about the presence of suspected Karamojong raiders within the area of responsibility.

Longole said the cattle are currently held at Aojathogo holding ground pending handover to the rightful owner.‎“We are now actively pursuing the raiders to apprehend them because they have for long been terrorizing communities and stealing their livestock,” he added.

‎“We urge members of the public to remain vigilant, immediately report any suspicious movement of people or livestock, and cooperate with local leaders and security teams,” Longole said.‎ He noted that timely information from the community remains critical in preventing raids and ensuring that stolen animals are quickly recovered.
